Soil-Pile Don't Run

Post by jpereirasan » Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:55 am

Hello STKO team. I am modeling a soil structure interaction case and I need your help if you can clarify a couple of things for me.
I want to perform a static and then dynamic analysis using UP elements.
I want to simulate a rigid soil container for which I constrain the soil edges.
I do not need to perform a construction stage in which I remove the soil by excavation.
1) In the analysis steps, what is missing for the program to give results?
2) Should I apply some edge load on the pile to simulate its self weight or is it enough to enter the mass density in the dispBeamColumn element?
I am waiting for your answer, thanks for your help.

Sorry, but I don't understand what you tried to do in this model.
The pile is not attached in any way to the soil... what's the purpose of modeling the soil in that way if you attach the pile to another line (not from the soil domain) with springs?

Revise your model following our webinar on pile-soil interaction either using contact elements or using embedded constraints.
2) Should I apply some edge load on the pile to simulate its self weight or is it enough to enter the mass density in the dispBeamColumn element?

Yes, mass is not automatically converted to laod
