ASDConcrete3D use with brick element?
ASDConcrete3D use with brick element?
Hello,
I am trying to model mat foundation as nonlinear and I am planning to use ASCEConcrete3D. Is it possible to use this material with brick elements? I see that all examples refer to layered shell element, but since this is a 3D model for concrete I thought it might be possible to use it with bricks. If so, do you have any examples?
Please let me know. Thank you

Hi, yes. It is possible to use it with brick or tetrahedron element as the constitutive model is 3D. Personally, I used it for simulating punching shear in flat slab.

Ok great thank you. In this case, how would you model the reinforcement? I suppose it needs to be modeled somehow explicitly where idnhave to model both shear and flexural reinforcement, which might become tricky for a big mat foundation. Can you please provide your thoughts?
Thanks
Thanks

Yes the only way is to model rebars as beam elements and to embed them inside the solid domain
Re: ASDConcrete3D use with brick element?
Thanks. Do you have any examples on how to do that?
