Curved Beam With Fiber Section

Post by Lei Lei » Mon Oct 30, 2023 2:23 am

Dear STKOteam:

I want to simulate a four-point bending test of a curved beam.

Because the stirrups are perpendicular to the neutral axis for curved beams, they are distributed at equal angles rather than equal intervals. At the same time, the longitudinal stress-bearing bars are curved. How to use the fiber section for modeling?

Finally, I would like to ask whether only Concrete and Steel materials can be used when using fiber sections, and not other
materials such as Elastic materials.

I'd appreciate your reply!

Thanks a lot!

This is not a huge problem. The beam finite-element is straight anyways. You will need to discretize your geometry into many pieces. When you model curved structures with beams you will always make these kinds of mistakes (i.e. long. rebars with same length, despite of their location), but if the element is slender enough this is not an issue.

You can use any material that fits your purposes. of course, elastic material can be used only for elastic analyses

Dear STKO Team:

Thanks for your reply!

For my second question, I think what I want to know is whether only the uniaxial material can be referred to.

Now, It seems the answer is YES.

Thanks again.

Yes only uniaxial materials
