Dear STKO Team
I'm trying to model my experimental shear compression tests on URM and retrofitted masonry walls. To this aim first I'm modelling the URM walls using the new materials ASDConcrete3D with 6 and 9 parameters.
At first I was comparing the numerical response with the response of the actuator but it was too flexible. So now I'm comparing the response of the STKO model with the readings recorded by a sensor located on the element where the horizontal loading was applied (this is the concrete beam located on top of the wall and used to applied to horizontal cyclic displacements) and I'm using the young's modulus E obtained from an experimental camping involving a cyclic compression test on masonry wallets (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 1818326187). With this changes now the elastic response is much better, but the rest of the test is not very good. The numerical curve doesn't dissipate the energy, and the numerical response doesn't compare well with the experimental one. I've tried changing the parameters, refining the mesh and I even change the element form bbar brick to the standard one, without any improvement.
Do you have any insight that would help me improve the model?
I've have modelled the test before using the material DamageTC3D and in this case also the response was too stiff and I ended up validating the model with virtual LVDTs and comparing them with the readings of the LVDT recorded during the test. In any cases if the material ASDConcrete3D doesn't let me model the global behaviour I will use the LVDTs to validate it.
Please find attached the model that I'm currently using.
Thank you very much for your help and time.
Larisa

Re: masonry wall with ASDConcrete3D
Could you please share some more information about the shear test setup? In the reference paper I can only see a test for cyclic compression
Re: masonry wall with ASDConcrete3D
Dear Team
Thanks for the reply. The description of the test is in this previews post:
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1965
Also it can be found here https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 2321014884
As you said the paper I provided before is the one containing the cyclic parameters of the compressive behaviour of the masonry I want to model.
Thank you for your help!

Start with a monotonic test to understand if the time step is small enough for the IMPLEX algorithm
