force beamcolumn element and truss element

Post by lishenghui » Wed Apr 27, 2022 4:38 pm

Dear stko operation team,
As the picture shows, nonlinear beam-column elements was used to model the boundary frame, and the truss element was used to model the inclined links. I use the “make wire” command to make them as a whole body. My questions is that the joint between the boundary frame and the inclined links is a rigid or a pinned.

How to set the connection node?

If you use the beam element for the outer frame and the truss for the inner edges, it will be fine.
The nodes will be connected but the truss does not have rotational DOFs, so ti will be like a pinned connection on the truss side, and a rigid connection between 2 adjacent beams
