How to make nonlinear I-section steel beam?

Post by gookki » Mon Sep 06, 2021 8:43 am

I know adding I-section data values with elastic property.
I want to make a nonlinear steel structure with I section, but I coudn't find example model that I want. Is there any model that I can refer to make.
I'm considering using fiber section for I-section beam if there is no reference.

Dear gokki,
the model from week 12 that you used for the other examples is made with I sections. You can use the same I sections when you create a fiber section. You open the fiber section editor, click on import geometry, select elastic section, and you will see the same exact editor of the elastic section where you can choose among the available sections or input the dimensions to create your own.

On our manual at page 74-75 the procedure is described.
