Problem with New Contact Element

Post by vokumus » Sat Aug 14, 2021 10:25 am

Hi everyone! I hope you people are having a nice break there.

I wanted to use zeroLengthImplexContact element for a 2D model. But STKO gives an error saying that I am mixing 2D and 3D models. I am pretty sure there is not any problem with my model because if I use old zeroLengthContact element, there is no error. It can be a bug of STKO. My model is attached.

Also I have a short question. When you were modeling soil-pile interaction during webinar you used zeroLength end contact element for the bottom of the pile. Which element is most suitable for pile tip to model it 2D.

Thanks in advance.

we fixed this issue in the new version (2.0.4).
In the meantime use this python file insted of your own in C:\Program Files\STKO\external_solvers\opensees\element_properties\zero_length_elements
zeroLengthImplexContact.zip
