Liquefaction Column

Post by willmj » Tue Mar 03, 2026 1:18 pm

I am trying to model soil liquefaction of a 3d clump undergoing 1d base excitation using the dafalias-manzari model. I have spent a couple moths refining it and it is beyond me to knwo what the problem is! Please could one you have a look at see what needs fixing! I have refined analysi steps and played with the material parameters, for what is a basic problem it is proving difficult

The pressure response in the model seems to be there or thereabouts, however the stress response to excitation is off. The input is a simple sinusoidal motion. Please coudl someone have a look atmy model and see what is going wrong and show me/fix the problem. That'd be much appreaciated, i have no idea! - soilcolmk50.scd is the fiel i am struggling with

  • Check the update material stage. In one case you use tag 6 (wrong), where you should use tag 7 (model soilcolmk50)
  • Use adaptive time step, so it will try to overcome the initial convergence issue in the plastic stage
  • In the EqualDOF you forgot to include the Uz displacement, without that, the column will bend
