Master and Slave

Hi,

Please could you help me understand why the following model must have the Master and Slave assignments for contact interactions.

The first interaction is between the outer pile surface (Master) and soil (Slave)

The second interaction is between the inner pile surface (Slave) and soil (Master)

The Third interaction is between the pile bottom surface (Slave) and soil (Master)

Is this because of the Mesh coarseness and the Master surface usually being designated to the finer mesh? Is this case unique as there are 3 different interactions?

The first interaction is between the outer pile surface (Master) and soil (Slave)
It's because the contact direction must go from Master to Slave, and according to your cylindrical axes, it's master=pile -> slave=soil
The second interaction is between the inner pile surface (Slave) and soil (Master)
This is wrong, if you look in the model, master=soil, slave=pile, for the same reason above
The Third interaction is between the pile bottom surface (Slave) and soil (Master)
for the same reason above, but this interaction does not have the cylindrical axes assigned, so the default is the global axes, where the Z direction (contact direction) goes from bottom to top
