Problems in running modal analysis

Post by Sti_MA » Tue Nov 26, 2024 2:40 pm

Hello everyone!
I'm modeling a masonry building using shell elements and rigid diaphragms.
I’ve assigned the total floor masses (including walls) Mx, My, RMz to the master nodes, which are positioned at the center of mass for each floor. I’ve also constrained the master nodes by locking Uz, Rx, and Ry. After that, I've set up the modal analysis steps.

When I attempt to run the analysis, it doesn’t proceed and instead shows the message "Press a button to continue," as seen in the attached screenshot.
No alerts or errors are displayed, so I can't understand what the issue might be.

Additionally, when I try running the same analysis steps on a simplified model, configured similarly but with far fewer nodes, the software completes the analysis, and I obtain satisfactory results.

I am therefore attaching the mentioned screenshot and the SCD file of my model and the semplified one.

I look forward to your feedback and thank you in advance.

Try this one:

Changes:
  • The analysis set up needs a sparse solver for a large model (I used UmfPack)
  • Don't use wipeAnalyis otherwise the settings will be deleted and the eigen analysis will use default settings which are
  • I also used the new ASDShellT3 (solves some issues of the DKGT)
