Concrete compression test

Post by dudchenkoav » Mon Jul 19, 2021 6:09 am

Hello STKO Team!

I have a problem with simulation of cubic strength test. I got quite strange reaction plot at the top of the model. Most probably, it is connected with uncorrect contact interface properties. Could you please check whether it is set correctly? What is a good value for normal and tangential spring stifness?
That is strange but I did not have such problem for cilinder test.

Best Regards,
Aleksandr

Hi Aleksandr,
1) I suggest to use less processor (the optimal is between 4000 to 8000 elements per processor). I used 4 and it is much faster
2) I reduced the imposed displacement, it was too large
3) I changed the bricks to bbar. The reduced integration that you used when you have large damage could introduce a spurious stiffness
4) I set the damage and plasticity to 0.3 and 0.3 (more damage then plasticity)
5) I changed the contact to our implex contact.
6) You should play with the parameters now, in particular with mu, penalty parameters, fracture energies etc to see how the failure mode changes

I also attached two models:
a) No contact (full confinement)
b) With contact

I hope this was useful, Best regards

Clara
