Tetrahedron mesh issues

I am trying to mesh the following geometry using linear tetrahedron and quadratic tetrahedron mesh. Why in quadratic tetrahedron mesh a gap is created.

I had to regenerate the geometry. It seems that the quadratic mesh does not work with a periodic surface. I simply added 2 lines on the opposite side of the solid
