I kindly seek assistance from anyone knowledgeable in this subject to provide guidance and support for the presented mod

Dear STKO Member,

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the valuable help and support you have been providing to us learners. It is truly appreciated.

I have been trying to mimic one of the examples that you posted in the forum around 3 years ago regarding the application of load on a surface (slab). However, I am encountering a problem that I believe might be related to the nodes.

In the example, I was supposed to have only 8 nodes and 9 elements, with one face. However, I am instead seeing 10 nodes and 9 elements, with one face. I am not able to understand how the 4 nodes of the rectangular slab can be merged with the other 4 nodes of the upper column to form exactly 4 nodes. This node duplication might be the reason why my analysis is not able to converge.

I would be grateful if you could please take a look into this issue and provide me with some guidance. I have attached the model file in the window below.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Beco

Hi, You have combined the different geometries (drawn separately) using "compound" command, this will only group the geometry under a single name but still the geometries are separate. So, you will face convergence issue, like singularity. To avoid this, you should use "merge" command.
