Tension/Compression limits

Hello to all OpenSees STKO users!

I'm working on a pushover analysis and I'm currently seeking information regarding the assignment of compression/tension limits to frame elements (ElasticTimoshenkoBeam) in OpenSees.

Given the specific characteristics of the structure I'm analyzing, it's crucial to be able to establish these limits.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge about how to do this in OpenSees? I would greatly appreciate your help!.

Hi, please provide us with a specific task that you want to achieve so that we can help you. Maybe, you can explain the problem statement using a simple beam-column (vertical cantilever). There are pretty good material and element library available in OpenSees and STKO to achieve what you might require. Thank you.

What happens is that I am doing a non-linear analysis of a 2d frame.

Due to the characteristics of the structure, when I perform the pushover, the capacity curve shows a very high rigidity because the structure makes an axial force couple to balance the lateral load, which is why the capacity curve is not correct. .

This problem is corrected by using tension/compression limits on the axial load of the columns.

Therefore, if anyone knows how to assign these axial load limits in vertical elastic elements (elastic timoshenko columns), I would appreciate if you could guide me.

Ok, you might take a look at the minmax uniaxial material (link below) if that helps you. Please note that minmax has to be used along with other uniaxial material (for capturing axial response)
