Dear team STKO,
There are some generic questions of mine. Suppose we want to apply a ground motion (GM) (downloaded from the PEER website) at the base of a soil continuum model.
1/ As most of the GM records are recorded at the surface, to use that GM data at the base, deconvolution is to be done, right? Now, if I do not want to carry out any deconvulation and directly use that GM at the base (which has rock properties), assuming the motion to be an outcrop motion, do I have to halve the GM?
2/ As per the absorbing boundaries (AB) formulation in STKO, a factor of 2 is automatically multiplied with the dashpot coefficient to compensate for the half portion of waves absorbed by the dashpots. Now, if I use the LK dashpots manually (not the automatic one developed by STKO), do I have to multiply the dashpot coefficients by 2?
Thanking you in anticipation.

Re: outcrop motion at the base of the soil continuum
Yes, because if it has been recorded at the free surface, it's twice1/ As most of the GM records are recorded at the surface, to use that GM data at the base, deconvolution is to be done, right? Now, if I do not want to carry out any deconvulation and directly use that GM at the base (which has rock properties), assuming the motion to be an outcrop motion, do I have to halve the GM?
