Settlement Analysis of a Masonry Building

Dear STKO team,

I am relativly new to STKO and am trying to model the response of a masonry building to settlement. I am having several problems with the analysis. When running the analysis, the prompt displays "Parameter: add component - 1001 - - no objects were able to identify parameter dTime", a screenshot of the prompt is attatched. Additionally when the data file is saved as a CDATA file rather than MPCO file, and so I can't open it, however I expect that this issue relates to the first.

I have a second question, currently I have modelled displacement as constant, would it be possible to receive some clarity on using the function for input type, can this be used to change displacement with respect to change in the x axis.

That error means that you are using a newer version of STKO with an old version of OpenSees.
Please update both STKO to version 3.2.1 and the OpenSees-Solvers.
I don't have those warnings.

After this, there are few errors on your model:

1. The face load you applied as self-weight should be a pressure (i.e. the self-weight times the thickness... N/mm^2). But you made them 1000 times larger than the real values. Pay attention to the units of measure.
2. If you impose a displacement, you cannot do a Displacement Control Analysis. You should do a load control instead.
3. If you impose a displacement, you should not fix the same DOF.
4. You specified section.fiber.damage in the MPCORecorder twice. It will generate an error

Basically, I separated the fixity on the left side to have the fix in Uz separated. In this way I can remove it before adding the imposed displacement in Uz

I have updated my version of STKO to 3.2.1 from 3.2.0, and have the most recent open-sees solver downloaded, I have downloaded the Opensees solver by prof. Nicola Tarque, however I still have the same error message when I try to anaylse the model.

Hi,

I have changed the element to the new ASDShellQ4 from ShellMITC, which now fixes the previous error. However the model is now failing to converge unlike before.

I have added beams to the model, using a rigid link interaction between the walls and the beams, however It will not converge and i am not quite sure how to amend the issue in the design.

It's singular, some faces don't have an element property:

I appear to have attatched a slightly older save as in the version where the model does not converge all of the model has an element assigned to it, the issue arises in the second analysis step.

Hi LJC,
I can see the problem with the beams in the middle, the rigid link doesn't work there.
You have two nodes from both sides that govern your shell element.

So I have merged your beams, so there will be one node only. Now your second analysis can converge.
Another thing is to check your parameters for timber sections, they do not seem reasonable to me (E, G)
