Hello everyone,
I am recreating the column studied by Mo & Wang (2002). For the analysis, I am using Steel02 for the reinforcing steel and ASDConcrete3D for the concrete.
After several iterations, I have noticed that the material behavior is highly sensitive to the Cross-Damage Factor (CDF) parameter.
Monotonic loading: With CDF = 3, I obtain fairly good results.
Cyclic loading: Using the same value (CDF = 3), I observe a rapid degradation of strength and stiffness, as well as smoothed "drops" in the response that do not seem to have a physical meaning .
Cyclic loading with CDF = 0.25: The results improve, but I still cannot properly capture the pinching effect of the material or the degradation in the last loops.
I would appreciate any recommendations on the appropriate CDF value for this analysis and any suggestions on how to better capture the pinching effect without experiencing such rapid degradation.
Additionally, how much do crack planes influence the results in this model?
Looking forward to your feedback.
Best regards,
EMNV

Hello everyone,
Just a quick update on this post — the model was having issues due to the steel constitutive law being used. After switching to the HystereticSM model, the results were satisfactory.
Best regards!
