Re: mass assignment in face

Hello,

Thanks for all the previous help I received for my queries.
I have yet another question regarding using Python API to post-process my results. I saw in the webinar how the python code identified individual columns and checked their drifts. I was wondering what would be the best approach for ...

Re: mass assignment in face

Hi Ciarabella,

I understand your concerns. You can try with 0.005, but I would do some calibration to ensure you get the correct results, otherwise you can change the material to work in implicit, try it! I suggest to reduce the duration of the ground motion to 25 seconds (most of the standards ...

Re: mass assignment in face

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions again. I have made the following changes as per suggested:
1) Added a lintel beam with similar assignments as my wood element, with elastic physical property and elastic beam column element. The lintel beam section I have put is 100mm height and 350mm width with ...

Re: mass assignment in face

Hi Ciarabella,

Thank you for all that you shared. I am ready to try all that you suggested in my model. But I wanted to clarify a few things first.
1) I am slightly worried about having to increase my time increment to 0.001s as you suggested, since I am already struggling with trying to minimize ...

Re: mass assignment in face

Hello,

Thanks a ton for the revised model and all the advice regarding edge mass. When I assigned the roof mass into the walls itself, the time period came around 0.17 which is good.
Moving on now to the dynamic analysis,
The attached model and some image screenshots of the output: output 0.4g.PNG ...

Re: mass assignment in face

Hi Francesca and STKO team,
Thanks for all the help. Also, leading from the previous question regarding face mass, what would be the units for edge mass assigned to linear elements? In my case, the wood weight density is 7000 N/m^3. So, what would be the value of edge mass applied at the wood truss ...

mass assignment in face

So, my question today is related to the mass assignment leading up to the eigen value analysis of the model. The wall system on the masonry building is characterized by shell element and the mass assigned is 8e-04. I have assumed a mass density of 2200 kg/m3 in stone masonry wall. All my physical ...

Acceleration records

Hi,

I am confused what to look at for output for the shell deformation in my walls. I want to be able to look at the correct drift of the walls. I am not sure about the unit consistency in the acceleration records. Could you please check to see that the accln is in mm/s^2 range; also, is (section ...

Re: Physical separation of properties

Hi,

I figured out my previous question by not assigning "homogenized 3d" any element property. I am running into this now
